This week I got to work with iconic Australian DJ duo Peking Duk on their looks for the ARIA Awards red carpet and surprise collaboration performance with Jessica Mauboy. Getting to work with the crazy fabulous pair on two different looks gave me real insight into their unique sense of fashion while allowing me to create cohesive looks that were still stylistically individual on both occasions. Drawing from their past looks and pushing the envelope even further we collectively decided on two looks that together would be firsts for both Adamio and Reuben.
The first look was the Cuban inspired red carpet look. Pulled together with matching two and three piece dark beige coloured suits by MJ Bale the look was elevated with wide-colored black shirts and matching black boots by Bared Footwear. Once taking to the carpet the duo instantaneously made headlines with their must-see on trend look, defying the fashion rules and staying true to who they are while looking appropriate and fashion forward.
Once completing their red carpet appearance all eyes were set to be on their surprise performance look. As the boys geared up to take the stage I re-dressed them in their all-white remastered looks taking from their previous splendour performance and re-working it to feel more street. Taking a modern street look with Adamio and a more traditional street look with Reuben the boys cohesively took to the stage and waited as their collaboration finally revealed itself and the powerful all white look stood loud and proud amongst a stage of fireworks, colourful backdrops and a multitude of eye capturing imagery.
If you missed Peking Duk (and their incredibly impressive Song of the Year win) at this years ARIA Awards then never fear as I have some behind the scenes video and images of the duo live from Sydney’s The Star below. Check out just why the duo made fashion news globally and take a sneak look at their incredibly amazing performance.
