With an immersive, theatrical level spectacle that takes audiences through a chronological history of it’s quintessential dancefloor classics from the 50s to today Hot Dub Time Machine is an artist you must see over and over again so it comes as no surprise to see that flocks of fans have turned out to the artists nation-wide tour and to see just what the talented musician had in store. After seeing the wave of social posts from his Perth and Brisbane shows it was my turn to see what the master had planned and as I excitedly walked into the iconic Forum Theatre, along with a ton of others, I could instantaneously feel the excitement build, this was going to be special.
As Gold Coast DJ/Producer Paces finishes his opening set and the man himself took to the stage their was an uproar of support and love and as he began the countdown we got ready to dance, sing and party our way through the best history lesson I have ever seen. From the drop-down screens that showed mash-up visuals of musical videos and archival live gigs to the plethora of surprises, my favourite of which was the dark lord (aka Darth Vader with a guitar), everywhere you looked was a visual representation of what the artist stands for fun, collaboratory moments that give you the very best of what the arts has to offer.
If you haven’t yet seen Hot Dub Wine Machine on his national tour then you have truly missed out, but don’t fret as their is one more show in Melbourne before two rounds of shows Sydney before his tour ends. If you get the chance to see this musical genius at work then do it! His fun filled shows are unlike anything other and you’ll truly kick yourself if you miss out!
