With Asian financier Zhao Long Ji (played by Chin Han) financing the construction of the world’s tallest skyscraper, The Pearl, in Hong Kong the story of the Skyscraper unravels. Standing at 3,500 feet or 225 stories we learn that while the building is finished it is far from ready to be fully operational. During the monumental construction of the towering giant international terrorist Kores Botha (played by Roland Møller) corrupted workers in order to shake-down Ji and extort millions and as the businessman agrees to pay him off we learn of the tracking of the money which will play a bigger role than Zhao could of ever imagined. Needing a final-check off of security Will Sawyer (played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) joins the team after being asked by friend and fellow former FBI hostage rescue team member Ben (played by Pablo Schrieber) after his traumatic and life-altering end with the federal team.
After moving his family across the world and into the new luxurious apartments of the Pearl Will Sawyer begins his job as the security advisor but shortly after starting things turn to chaos and as friends become enemies it becomes clear everyone is hiding a secret and the only way to save his family is to rely on himself. After being robbed and learning his friend Ben had betrayed him Will sets out to save his family as they are now home and stuck in a building that is set alight by Botha who wants the list of names Ji has been tracking the money too but after realising their was no way in to Ji’s fortress of a palace Botha takes Will’s most prized possession and we see suspenseful moments that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, peering through semi-closed eyes wondering if he’s going to make it.
