The critically acclaimed new Broadway musical Come From Away premiered last night in Melbourne and after seeing it for myself I can see exactly why it’s getting 5 star reviews all over the globe. The times called it “Irresistible and Inspiring” and I tend to agree, the must-see play is an unforgettably moving and touching story of the power of friendship and human spirit that will leave you feeling all of the good feels from the inside out! The uplifting and life-affirming production, directed by Tony winner Christopher Ashley, is sure to be one of your new favourites and if you’re a theatre lover I can assure you this is one play you won’t want to have missed.
With an all star cast including Nicholas Brown, Nathan Carter, Zoe Gertz, Simon Maiden and Laura Murphy you are taken on a journey through the aftermath of the ground-breaking real-life events in the wake of the September 11 tragedy. After 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers from over 100 countries were redirected to Gander, Newfoundland the small and remote Canadian town instantly doubled in size and while those off-loaded were scared, misplaced and missing irreplaceable moments in their lives the generosity and hospitality of the small community seemed to make everything okay. As they opened up their homes and hearts to the worlds citizens and kept them safe through what has been labelled the worst tragedy the 21st century we see the truly inspirational story of hope and humanity unfold.
If you haven’t yet seen the beautifully magical play Come From Away then I suggest you book your tickets now. The new production will have you filled with goodness instantly and prove to even the most cynical that there is good still left in the world, we just need to look for it.
