Proving year after year that it is at the top of Australian festival goers’ to do list, Groovin the Moo, everyone’s favourite rural festival, came back this year with a line up that knocked your socks off and left you with no option but to crave to be there. From the diverse star packed bill, which covered every type of music imaginable, to the instagrammable landscape that the festival calls it’s home, this year GTM seemed to out-do itself. As I entered the Prince of Wales Showground in Bendigo last month, alongside hordes of fans, I was eager to see what this years show would bring and I can tell you first hand it was everything I hoped it would!
Local heroes like G Flip, Thelma Plum, Crooked Colours and Jack River shared the stage with iconic Aussie band Regurgitator, while hip-hop trio Hilltop Hoods surprised the crowd with guest appearances from Illy and Ecca Vandal, showcasing just why home-grown music talent is some of the best in the world. Combine all that with international acts like Coolio, MØ and Billie Eilish, the list of must see acts was high! It seemed everywhere you looked there was an act you didn’t want to miss. Hermitude, Nick Murphy fka Chet Faker, Nicole Millar, Fisher and Haiku Hands were also notable sets in a day that seemingly wanted you to dance through it with no cares. From start to finish this was one of my favourite festivals to date. Not only does GTM showcase the worlds music to the masses, but it’s care-free attitude allows you to be you while enjoying the thing that brings all humans together – the art of music.
If you were one of the unlucky ones that didn’t get to go to this year’s Groovin the Moo festival then make sure you don’t make that mistake again. Other than being one of my favourite dates on the calendar it is also one of the country’s premiere music festivals and one you don’t want to miss. Check out some highlights below from this year’s festival and pencil in the dates for next years show when they announce them – and I will see you on the dance floor for what I’n are will be a boogie filled day.
